Jordan doesn't have any tests this weekend, so she gets to go to the Buccaneer Beach Day at the Yacht Club with us! Brooke got to wear her new swimsuit from Justice.
Bruce got us there a couple of hours early so we could get a picnic table and some shade.
This is a typical sight at the beach.
This is the prize tent... where the winners can claim their prize after each contest.
They'll have a giant buffet at sunset, so they've set up tables and chairs.
They even set up extra chairs and tents for shade... it looks like it's gonna be crowded!
They set up trash cans full of water and sodas. No one will get dehydrated.
Here is the life guard station... they look ready for action.
Reese found a jelly fish close by.
This boy was proud of his jelly fish find.
The sand castle contest has begun. Ever since Brooke could walk, she has chosen to build in the sand, rather than play in the water, so I wasn't surprised when she started by making a circle larger than herself! Jordan and Reese are helping.
They have spray-painted sections for each sand castle.
How'd ya like to go to the beach dressed like this?!
They took a break from sand castle building to compete in the sack race. Reese got first place and Brooke got second place.
Look at that prize!
She won again!
Our friend, Harry, has joined us. He brings his hammock and knows how to relax.
The girls ran into their friend, Jayda.
The boy in the red shirt got a trophy for the tallest sand castle.
This boy got a trophy for the best sculpture.
And Brooke got a trophy for the best sand castle!! Yea, Brooke!
What a masterpiece!
Now they're lining up for the balloon toss.
Everybody get ready to throw!
Brooke is tossing it.
And Jordan caught it.
The girls all formed a team in the paddle boat race (it's a wind surfer without a sail). They had to paddle around the buoy and come back. They tell me they finished before most people reached the buoy to turn around! Good job, girls! All that swim practice came in handy finally!
This is my friend, Patty... Pattie and Patty! I ran into her and so she and her husband joined us. Her son, Logan, was in the Aladdin Panto with Brooke.
Saturday, May 12
When I dropped Brooke off at the middle school today during the lunch hour for her Girl Scout meeting, it was 105 degrees. I guess the heat is here to stay.
