Every Wednesday, the company sells a variety of foods outside the snack bar, so it's a fun and cheap way to get out and meet others without having to leave the compound. We usually order our favorite -- shawarmas!
Except Brooke... she likes to get Shish Taouk, which is a traditional Arabic and Turkish shish kebab. Cubes of chicken are skewered and grilled with bell peppers. Common marinades are based upon yogurt or tomato puree.
I also decided to try murtabak, it looked to me like the Arabic version of a quesadilla. It's actually a stuffed pancake or a pan-fried bread that originated in India. You can get them sweet or savory. I ordered one with cheese. Here is a picture of them making murtabak.

To the left and behind Jordan, you can see a couple of women in abayas and niqabs.
They're so dark, that you can barely see them below. It's not very crowded tonight, so we were able to get a table.
We sure enjoyed our dinner!
