February 20-27, 2012

Monday, February 20
Tonight Reese went to AWANA, Jordan studied, and Brooke and Bruce worked on a drama set for the middle school's upcoming show (Comedy of Errors) while I went to a Dinner and Bible Study with some ladies from church.  I met some new people and had a nice time.

Reese has been learning about Japan in school, and is putting on a puppet show for one of her homework requirements.  We are the excited audience!

and the show is about to begin...

February 21-26
Other nights this week were spent with me attending the planning meeting for the upcoming women's retreat in Bahrain; Brooke, Reese, and I helping to assemble notebooks for the women's retreat; Brooke hanging out at the Hobby Farm with a group of teenage girls (that's what the stables are called where they all keep their horses); Jordan babysitting; Brooke and Reese playing their last flag football game of the season and having their pizza party; Bruce attending his football dice game; Bruce helping Reese make her derby car for AWANA; and for home school, Brooke and Reese and I taking a taxi to our friend's compound again where a Japanese lady taught all of the girls how to fold origami!

Monday, Feb. 27
Tonight the AWANA groups held their Derby Grand Prix.  All of the AWANA kids were given wooden blocks to make cars to race, and tonight they raced their cars.  Here they're putting the last finishing touches on the cars.

Here the track is ready and the kids are ready for action.

Reese looks a little nervous.

I was a judge, and these were all the terrific cars that I had to judge for creativity!

Now it's Reese's turn to race... her car is the green one.

And her car won this heat!

And she won her heat again!

And again!

Well, there were so many good cars that she didn't come in first place, but she did great -- and this was her first time... many of these kids have done this every year!  I was so proud of her.

We'll see you again soon,

- Pattie -
