The Reynertsons have offered to drive us into town this evening. Reese didn't want to go, so she stayed at home.
Well, we started walking to the shop we were looking for and we saw that most of the shops were closed for Eid. We walked and walked and walked, but didn't find anything open.
This man was noticeably following us, but we couldn't figure out why. He posed for his picture here.
These garage-looking doors are all shops that are closed.
This shopkeeper walked all the way from his shop (you can see it in the distance with the light on) to ask Kurt if he wanted to buy something.
These guys got their car stuck in the sandy parking lot.
Here is where a mall burnt down.
The Arabs like cats... there are many of them in the city.
We did find a little grocery store open.
These guys were just sitting in couches and chairs on the corner!
I like these parking covers.
This is a mosque.
As evening falls, people come out and the traffic gets thicker.
Look at this giant mound of chicken from which he's making shawarmas!
We decided to get some shawarmas, but because we're men and women, we had to go upstairs to eat. No one else was up here, but it was crowded with men downstairs.
These were really good and had yogurt and honey on them.
Eating shawarmas
It was a nice change to go out for dinner, but it sure was disappointing to find all of the shops closed.
When we got back to camp, it was raining!! The first time since we've been here.
